Old Business:
Jonathan Jefferies reminded everyone that the Northern California Division website needs to be transferred to a new hosting site. This will be a priority task for the 2007-2008 Executive Officers. Jonathan also reminded everyone that the Bay Cup website monthly fees have been paid by Gavin Towey and that he should reimbursed by the Bay Cup for his last year’s expenses.
Nominating Committee Report:
Bill Cracraft provided a brief report of the Nominating Committee which was made up of Greg Massialas, Peter Burchard and himself. The only change to the candidates that hey had proposed for election was that Alice Huang had withdrawn her candidacy for the Treasurer position.
Election of Officers and Representatives to the USFA Congress:
No nominations from the floor were made for nay of the Officers positions.
A written vote election was held for the position of Vice Chair as there were two candidates running: Jim Liebich and Samantha Ross. Samantha Ross won the election for Vice Chair. Running unopposed, Martha Young, Ed Hon and Chloe Soroquere were unanimously elected to the Executive Officers positions of Chair, Treasurer and Secretary, respectively.
Due to its large membership size (585 members in 2006), the Northern California Division can elect 8 representatives to the USFA Congress. The following representatives were proposed and elected unanimously:
- Eric Dew
- Jane Meinhardt
- Dave Caldwell
- Anthony Joslin
- Jonathan Jefferies
- Greg Massialas
- Jim Liebich
- Don Henvick.
New Business:
Jonathan Jefferies put to a vote the decision of whether or not the Northern California Division will participate in and support the Bay Cup for the2007-2008 season. The vote was unanimous in favor of full participation of the Division in the Bay Cup. The new Chair will designate an Executive Board member to be on the Bay Cup Board by the end of August.
The attendees also discussed the need to schedule qualifier competitions and posting them early on the website. The first date selected was to have the Junior Olympic qualifiers the week end of December 15 and 16, 2007. It was agreed that by holding the qualifier that late will allow fencers to potentially qualify at other regional competitions. The deadline for submitting qualifying reports for the 2007-20008 JOs is January 11, 2008. JOs will be held February 15-18, 2008 in Charlotte, NC.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:40 pm. |
