  • Men's Foil World Cup in San Francisco 
Save the Date: October 17 - 19, 2014

All the top Men's Foil fencers in the world will be coming to compete in the San Francisco World Cup, Oct. 17-19, 2014. The SF World Cup will be held at the Kezar Pavilion in Golden Gate Park, and tickets are now available.
This very exciting event will be hosted in San Francisco for the first time ever, and it's a great opportunity for all Bay Area fencers, families, and friends to see the best in the world, first hand. All the top Rio 2016 Olympic Men's Foil prospects will be competing including many of the top USA medal prospects. 

This is a unique experience for the Bay Area fencing community to see the best fencers in the world compete in our own back yard, and support TEAM USA. There are several world class fencers training in the Bay Area who will be competing in this World Cup, including Gerek Meinhardt, USA (#4 in the World), James Davis, GBR (#6 in the World), and Alexander Massialas, USA (#7 in the World). who will be competing in the top 64 on Saturday. The USA Men's Foil Team that finished #1 in the World in 2013, and will be competing on Sunday in the team event. 

Schedule of events:
Fri, Oct. 17 (one  session all day) - Individual event, 10am start pools and DE's to top 64 (specific pools with starting times will be available 1 day prior on web page)

Sat, Oct. 18 (Session 1) - Individual event, DE of 64 start 9am, round of 32 at 1pm, round of 16 at 3pm 
Sat. Oct. 18 (Session 2) - Individual event, Final 4 (semi's) start at 6:30pm, awards at 8pm

Sun. Oct. 19 (one session all day) - Team event, DE's 32 start at 8:30am, DE's of top 16 10am (TEAM USA start time), BRONZE match 4pm, GOLD match 5pm

This is a great opportunity for the Bay Area fencing community to show the highest level fencing to their friends and associates in a nicely staged finals show on Saturday and Sunday evenings. It will be a nice finals production, including color commentary by the NBC fencing announcer from the London Olympic Games.

Come and support this special event. There are limited tickets available, and it's advisable to purchase tickets online.

With a limited number of tickets available, the event is expected to sell out prior to the start of competition and spectators are advised to get theirs early by booking online through the following links:

    New Season 2014-2015 - 

    Don't forget to renew your US Fencing Association membership:

    * you need it to register in a club for insurance purpose

    * you need it to compete in the local, regional and national tournaments

    PLEASE, register before your first Bay Cup tournament, or the event won't be sanctioned and no change of classifications will be approved.

    And remember to write down the regular fee entry deadline to optimize your costs.

    CHINA – USA Elite Fencing Foil Team Match in San Francisco

    Sat, July 12th, 5-6pm


    You are invited this Saturday, to attend a “friendly” China – USA fencing foil team match featuring some of the top foil fencers in the world. 


    TEAM CHINA will be represented by several of their strong Sr. National Team B foil fencers that include fencers who travel with the Sr. squad and have been on the podium at Sr. World Cups.


    TEAM USA will be an All-Star collection of USA fencers, including Gerek Meinhardt and Alexander Massialas who are currently ranked #3 and #7 in the World.


    This match is the highlight event of the China-USA MTEAM fencing camp this week where both Gerek and Alexander are in their final preparations for the World Championships in Kazan, Russia. This event is the final fencing event for them, as we will be flying out on Sunday for the World Championships.


    Last year, at the end of the season (after the World Championships) our USA MEN’S FOIL TEAM finished ranked #1 in the World.


    Please come by to watch this exciting match and help support TEAM USA.

    GGFC is pleased to announce that the Head Fencing Coach of the US Air Force Academy will be making a presentation at GGFC at 7:00 on Thursday, July 31.

    Maestro Abdel Salem was a member of the Egyptian Olympic Fencing Team in 1984.  He has been coaching in the US since that time.  He is also a medical doctor.  

    Maestro Salem will speak on the career, educational, and athletic opportunities available at the Air Force Academy.  The presentation will last 30-45 minutes, and all questions are welcome.  Refreshments will be served!

    Sunday: Open Women Foil and Open Men Foil,

    where the seminar attendees, after taking the online referee test,
